Taigas are the largest biomes. Taigas stretch out to many continents. They appear in Northern Europe, Northern Asia (Siberia)and North America. They exist between 50 degrees north all the way up to the Article Circle (ThinkQuest). Also, due to how north it is, it has longer than normal nights in winter and longer than normal days in summer.

Here is a map that represents where Taigas are located in the world
Taigas are very COLD. During the cold half of the year, the average temperature is actualy below freezing. Taigas have winter for 5 - 6 months (MBG). In winter is ranges between 30 to negetive 65 degrees. In the summer, it is slightly wamer at 20 to 70 degrees (ThinkQuest). The Taiga is the second coldest biome on earth. Taigas also only get about 12 to 33 inches of rain per year (MBG).This mostly occurs in the summer months. In the winter there is quite a bit of snow. Because of this harash weather, only certain species of plants and animals can exist in the taiga.

This is a graph that shows temperatures of the year in differnt biomes. As you can see, Taigas (pink) are one of the coldests, esspecially in winter months
